THE MAN, THE MESSAGE, THE MONSTER
Christianity was the ultimate product of religious syncretism in the ancient world. Its emergence owed nothing to a holy carpenter. Nor was there ever was just one Christianity, originating with a single, divine or charismatic founder. Out of the milieu of religiosity that infected the Roman world, dozens of competing and conflicting Jesus, Sun-god and Mystery cults emerged.
Catholicism triumphed over its more esoteric rivals and a benign paganism by ruthless determination, organizational discipline, and the patronage of an ambitious Roman prince. The fanatics of Christ proved useful to the man who set his sights on absolute and undivided power—and to those who followed him for the next 1500 years.

The Man
1ST CENTURY PALESTINE had Jesuses by the hundred—many no doubt with mothers called Mary and fathers called Joseph—but the fable was a cultural construct. Not Jerusalem but Alexandria was the ancient cooking pot of religious fusion. Here, Hellenised Judaism influenced the first Christians. Like the worship of Horus or Mithras, a genuine human life for the new god was neither necessary nor helpful. The gospel yarn began not with the testimony of a disciple but with the musings of someone who switched the anticipated Jewish Messiah from future hope to “historic past”.

The ubiquitous icon of Christianity: a man being tortured to death. What kind of twisted, perverted religion is this?
The life of Jesus was conjured up from copied story elements, a mass of borrowed quotations, and self-serving speculation. Beginning with a sacrificial death, later Jesus acquired a brief and thinly-drawn human life and finally an auspicious human birth.
With multiple authors behind the evolving story it is no surprise that the figure of “Jesus” is a mess of contradictions. The composite ‘Jesus Christ’ character—god, man, king, carpenter, conqueror, peace-maker, dispenser of justice, advocate of love—was assembled to try to unify a fragmented and fractious messianic religious movement.

hand, the behind-the-scenes political power-brokers, making and breaking
Heads of State and controlling the ignorant masses for millennia.”

Through the centuries, the Christian godman has been made and remade continuously. Like a resilient virus, “Jesus” is forever morphing with the age and culture in which he finds himself. The story of Jesus is so thinly drawn, and so insidiously meshed into the popular mind, that inventing alternative endings and conspiracy theories is a thriving industry.
The Message
NOTHING in the ‘Christian message’ was original. Brotherly love and compassion had been taught by the Stoics for centuries. The Christian faith, in fact, was a vulgarised paganism, set to the theme of the Jewish prophets and debased by religious intolerance.
“Pauline” and other letters certainly exist but the epistles, far from being genuine letters, originated in the acrimonious doctrinal battles of the 2nd century—a time when “pseudepigraphy” and forged apostolic writings were weapons in the war of “Christianities”. The orthodox creed remained unpopular for centuries and persecution was necessary to impose its will.

Holy Mother Church invented heroic origins and martyred saints. None could say otherwise, a triumphant Christianity became the active agent in destroying knowledge and access to learning. The intellectual centres of the Roman empire were ruined by murder and prohibition and Europe sank into ignorance and superstition.
The Monster
AN IGNORANT and impoverished population was more readily subjugated by Princes of the Church. Wedded to the Roman State, Christianity became a force of brutal repression. In a world run by clerical gangsters, the writ of Holy Mother Church was enforced by sadism and torture. A ‘Gospel of Sin’ became a source of great wealth and power for the pimping priests.
Jesus, meek and mild
The Pope’s Pear was a favorite of the Holy Roman Inquisition. It was used on women, judged to have ‘had sex with the Devil or his familiars.’ Inserted into the vagina of the victim, the pear was expanded by use of the screw until the insides were ripped, stretched and mutilated, almost always causing death. The pointed ends of the ‘leaves’ were good for ripping the throat, intestines or cervix open.
For more than a thousand years, the henchmen of Christ inflicted a cruel barbarism on every community they encountered. Law was replaced by Divine Right, scientific method criminalized, and ancient medical knowledge lost for a millennium. Women, fortunate to be domestic slaves, might find themselves in enforced celibacy, joyless marriage or burnt as a witch. Humanity escaped from this prison barely two centuries ago. Yet even today, everywhere, Christianity is the ideology of reaction, an impediment and stumbling block to human progress, preying on the weak and seducing the naive.

So What’s the Agenda of Monotheism..?
“The great unmentionable evil at the center of our culture is monotheism. From a barbaric Bronze Age text known as the Old Testament, three anti-human religions have evolved–Judaism, Christianity, and Islam…”—Gore Vidal
