Easter Island Heads Have Bodies Too!

CONVENTIONAL ARCHEOLOGY dates the erection of the Easter Island statues, or Moai, sometime between 1250 and 1500 AD, although there is speculation that they could be much older. There is also controversy surrounding why the bodies are buried. Was it simply the result of an accumulation of soil over time, or were the Moai deliberately buried—like the recently discovered complex at Göbekli Tepe in Turkey?

Gobekli Tepe...

Many believe that the Göbekli Tepe site was buried to protect it from cataclysmic earthchanges around 12,000 years ago. Did the same happen on Easter Island… and elsewhere?

Excavations of the famous statues of Easter Island have been going on for many years. The soil surrounding the bodies has preserved intriguing carvings on the lower section, including the ‘birdman’ motif popular with the ancient Egyptians.
