EARTH IS THE THIRD PLANET from a minor sun in the Virgo Supercluster of galaxies: the densest of the eight planets in the solar system. It is the largest of the system’s four terrestrial planets—sometimes referred to locally as The World, the Blue Planet, or by its Latin name, Terra.
Inhabited by several primitive species of hybridized hominoids, the planet has been in a perpetual state of war for millennia, for reasons yet to be determined. It is considered unstable and dangerous. As a consequence it has been quarantined and classified “off limits” to its more civilized neighbours.
Hello Earth: “In some ways I thought of it ( Hello Earth ) as a lullaby for the Earth. And it was the idea of turning the whole thing upside down and looking at it completely from above.
“You know.. if you were lying in water at night and you were looking up at the sky all the time: I wonder if you wouldn’t get the sense of the stars reflected in the water, a sense of looking up at water that’s reflecting the stars from the sky that you’re in.”—Kate Bush
